If water contains too much iron and manganese, not only the taste is influenced: deposits and germs in the pipe systems transporting the water are as much the consequence as bacterial growth. The drinking water ordinance (TVO) therefore stipulates among other things certain limit values for iron, manganese and other chemical components in the water.
